Alcantarea Imperialis Rubra is one of the most dramatic specimen plants available - a large bromeliad producing enormous, broad leaves in deep red-bronze tones arranged in a formal, symmetrical rosette. Mature plants can reach 1m across and make an immediate statement in any space. The colour is rich and consistent, the architectural form unlike almost anything else in the plant world. Slow-growing but extraordinarily long-lived. Water into the central cup. Bright indirect light to part sun. Excellent drainage. Very drought tolerant once established.
