A genus of strappy, clumping perennials producing fine blue-purple flowers in spring and summer followed by deep blue or purple glossy berries. Dianella is one of the hardest-working plants in the Perth garden - tough, adaptable, long-lived, and effective in an enormous range of situations from sun to part shade. Full sun to part shade. Well-drained soil - tolerates sandy soils well. Drought tolerant once established. Low-phosphorus native fertiliser in spring. Remove dead flower stems and tidy old foliage periodically.
